This year we have seen tremendous changes in the legal world involving fraud and the regulations around combating fraud.  The Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE DC) will hold our annual meeting and daylong training session on Wednesday June 23, 2010.  In addition, we are pleased to announce this years Fraud Examiner of the Year award recipient. 

The training session will be divided into three sections: 

Section one will include a discussion of the basic legal elements of fraud presented by a well-known and highly respected member of the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) community.  In addition, we will get an update on the newly formed Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission established to "examine the causes, domestic and global, of the current financial and economic crisis in the United States”.

Section two will focus on two specific areas: updates to the bankruptcy laws and updates and new trends in workplace and employment fraud.  

Section three will focus on ethics for the certified fraud examiner, covering the basics, most frequent causes for disciplinary action, and ways to avoid the pitfalls.

  • Jennifer Larkin Kneeland – Partner, Linowes and Blocher LLP
  • Jeff Pargament – Partner, Pargament & Hallowell, PLLC

Who should attend:

  • Certified Fraud Examiners and other anti-fraud specialists
  • Special investigation unit personnel
  • Criminal investigators and detectives from local, state, and federal agencies
  • Internal and independent auditors, lawyers, prosecutors and other professionals

DATE: Wednesday  - June  23rd , 2010

TIME:  8:00AM - 4:00PM (training starts promptly at 8:30AM)

LOCATION: The Sumner School and Museum, Washington, DC 

                       1201 17th Street, NW

                       Washington, DC (near the Farragut North Metro Station).

COST:  (Includes breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack)

  • Chapter Members:  $100
  • Non Chapter Members:  $125

CPE Credits:  This course offers an opportunity to earn 8 continuing professional education credits (includes 2 ethics credits).

 

* Full refunds are available anytime when requested prior to 3 days of the event.  No refunds will be made for “No Shows” (a “No Show” is a person who registers for a program but who does not cancel registration or attend the program).   Any a registered person may elect to transfer the registration to another person at anytime.  Cancellations can be made only by email at chapter@acfedc.org.

* Payments can be electronically made anytime prior to the event start.  Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate "pay at the door" or payment by checks or cash.
