This year we have
seen tremendous changes in the legal world involving fraud and the
regulations around combating fraud. The Washington
Metropolitan Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
(ACFE DC) will hold our annual meeting and daylong training session
on Wednesday June 23, 2010. In addition, we are pleased to
announce this years Fraud Examiner of the Year award
recipient.
The training session
will be divided into three
sections:
Section
one will include a
discussion of the basic legal elements of fraud presented by a
well-known and highly respected member of the Certified Fraud
Examiner (CFE) community. In addition, we will get an update
on the newly formed Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission established
to "examine the causes, domestic and global, of the current
financial and economic crisis in the United
States”.
Section
two will focus on
two specific areas: updates to the bankruptcy laws and updates and
new trends in workplace and employment fraud.
Section
three will focus on
ethics for the certified fraud examiner, covering the basics, most
frequent causes for disciplinary action, and ways to avoid the
pitfalls.
