DARK WEB SESSIONS

Presented by Dr. Babur Kohy (CyTalks)
Over 90% of internet content is hidden. Activists, hacktivists, nation states, researchers, and those who seek anonymity to utilize the deep dark web. Being that 90% of the internet remains hidden, it is important for students and professionals to understand how to navigate the dark corners of the web.

0830-1030 Session: What is Lurking in the Dark Web
Learning objectives include:
- Comprehend the history of the dark web, its current state, and its potential future state.
- Learn specific dark-web use cases based upon scenarios and work mission requirements.
- Discover multi-faceted strategies to identify, analyze, and expose criminal dark web identities.

1030-1230 Session: Dark Web and Ethics
Learning objectives include:
- Realize the ethical challenges of the dark web, and potential pitfalls.
- Recognize ethical considerations of viewing, obtaining and utilizing data from the dark web.
- Discern the feasibility of governing the dark web and making the dark web “more ethical.”

1300-1400 Session: Criticality of Data to Harness Operational Efficiency
Panelists:  Jay Hurt (Guidehouse and former Federal Student Aid Chief Financial Officer), Nicole Puri (Bureau of Fiscal Service) and Pedro Maldonado (Federal Highways Administration)
Learning objectives include:
- Understand the necessity of data quality in day-to-day operations, and tools and practices to improve data fidelity.
- Examine techniques on how to operationalize overwhelming volume of cumbersome data.
- Recognize examples of operational efficiencies that can be achieved through the power of data.

1400-1500 Session: How the FBI is Addressing Emerging Technologies as They are Used in Fraud Scams
Presenter:
  Gregory Settducati (Federal Bureau of Investigations) and Adam Pool (Federal Bureau of Investigations)  
Learning objectives include:
- Recognize everyday threats Americans face as criminals use emerging technologies, how they are used, and how to avoid being scammed.
- Examine real-world examples of how technologies are used by criminals as reported to the FBI.
- Learn how FBI is serving the American public to protect and/or recover damages from emerging technology fraud scams.

1500-1600 Session: Crypto Investments and Your 401(k)
Presenters: 
Michael Collins  (Government Accountability Office) and Tom Moscovitch (Government Accountability Office)
Learning objectives include:
- Discover the effects of crypto assets in the U.S. retirement system, including crypto asset investment options and their risks and benefits.
- Understand the responsibilities of fiduciaries and oversight bodies, relevant federal laws and regulations to protect American investors, and how federal agencies can mitigate the risks of crypto investments.
- Learn about GAO’s simulations of the future risks and returns of crypto assets, and the current and potential market for crypto asset investments.

1600-1700 Session: Malware Stealers and Fraud
Presenter:
Nguyen Nguyen (CyberArmor)
Learning objectives include:
- Understand the characteristics and functions of malware stealers and the threats they pose.
- Identify common delivery methods used to spread malware stealers.
- Learn about preventive measures to mitigate malware stealer risks.

Cancelation Policy: 

Full refunds are available anytime when requested prior to 3 days of the event. No refunds will be made for “No Shows” (a “No Show” is a person who registers for a program but who does not cancel registration or attend the program).  A registered person may elect to transfer the registration to another person at any time. Cancellations can be made only by email at chapter@acfedc.org.  Payments can be electronically made any time prior to the event starts. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate "pay at the door" or payment by checks or cash.
